In a short interview, when asked who he sees as the tournament winner and who he supports at the World Cup, Djokovic gave an unexpected answer that quickly drew major attention in the sports world.
“The final is Portugal against Mexico. Portugal will win 2–0 or 2–1,” Djokovic said, who is known to be close friends with Cristiano Ronaldo and does not hide his admiration for the Portuguese star.
Interestingly, the Serbian ace also sees Mexico reaching the World Cup final, even though the hosts are considered underdogs in the race for the title, making his prediction even more surprising for analysts and fans.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup, the first to feature 48 national teams, begins tonight and will run until July 19, bringing the biggest tournament in football history.
