Sweden made an impressive start to their FIFA World Cup campaign, thrashing Tunisia 5-1 in their Group F encounter.

The Scandinavians showed their intentions from the opening stages of the match. Yasin Ayari opened the scoring, while Alexander Isak soon doubled Sweden’s advantage. Tunisia managed to get back into the game through Omar Rekik, who reduced the deficit to 2-1 before halftime and brought a sense of uncertainty heading into the second half.

However, the second period was marked by Sweden’s complete dominance. Viktor Gyökeres found the net to make it 3-1, while substitute Mattias Svanberg further extended the lead. Ayari put the finishing touch on the emphatic victory by scoring his second goal of the match in stoppage time to seal the final score at 5-1.

With this victory, Sweden sent a clear message to their rivals in the group and moved to the top of the standings, while Tunisia will need to regroup quickly if they hope to keep their chances of reaching the knockout stage alive.

In the other match of the group, Ivory Coast secured a narrow but extremely important victory over Ecuador. The hero for the African side was Amad Diallo, who found the back of the net in the 90th minute to spark celebrations and hand his team a winning start to their World Cup campaign.
