Jay-Z’s Roc Nation has scored a court win in a legal fight tied to attorney Tony Buzbee and the long-running fallout from allegations that once pulled the rap mogul into a wider celebrity legal storm.
According to court documents, a Texas judge dismissed all claims against Roc Nation in lawsuits brought by two former Buzbee clients. The ruling was based on lack of jurisdiction, not on whether the underlying allegations were true.
The lawsuits accused Roc Nation and lawyers working with Jay-Z’s side of improperly targeting Buzbee’s clients during the fallout from the Diddy-related legal drama and later allegations involving Jay-Z.
Those claims were part of a wider clash between Buzbee and Jay-Z’s camp after Buzbee filed a lawsuit that included sexual assault allegations against Jay-Z. That lawsuit was later withdrawn.
Jay-Z has denied the allegations. He has also pushed back in court, accusing Buzbee of pursuing false claims and filing legal actions against the attorney.
The latest ruling gives Roc Nation a procedural victory, but it does not decide the merits of the allegations. Because the dismissal was based on personal jurisdiction, the claims could potentially be brought again in another venue.
The dispute has kept two powerful celebrity-world names, a billionaire music figure and a high-profile trial lawyer, locked in a legal fight that now has one fewer case moving forward in Texas.
