Tensions between the United States and Iran have escalated further after both sides exchanged airstrikes for a second consecutive day, with U.S. President Donald Trump warning that military operations will continue unless Tehran agrees to a peace deal.
According to the U.S. military, the latest strikes targeted Iranian surveillance facilities, communication systems, and air defense sites in response to what Washington described as Tehran’s ongoing aggression.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that it had launched retaliatory attacks against U.S. military targets across the region, claiming that bases in Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan, as well as facilities linked to the U.S. Fifth Fleet, had been targeted.
Iranian authorities also said that the Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan was attacked for a second consecutive night, with 12 ballistic missiles fired at American positions. At the same time, Kuwait and Bahrain reported that their air defense systems had intercepted hostile projectiles.
Additional concern was sparked by Iran’s warning that it would open fire on any vessel attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. U.S. Central Command rejected those claims, stating that maritime traffic through the strategic waterway continues.
Amid the growing instability, oil prices climbed once again, while the international community is closely monitoring the situation over fears that the crisis could develop into a broader regional conflict.
