Logistics centers belonging to Russia’s largest online retailer, Wildberries, caught fire in Russian-occupied Crimea, St. Petersburg, and Tver overnight on Friday following a new wave of Ukrainian drone attacks, Anadolu Agency reported citing local media.
The strikes mark the fifth time in the past week that Ukrainian forces have targeted the e-commerce giant’s supply network, igniting a massive blaze at a sorting center in Simferopol and forcing staff evacuations.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky previously stated that Wildberries facilities are being targeted because they are utilized by Russian forces to store and transport war materiel, including body armor, navigation equipment, and drone components.
Media analysts estimate that the repeated long-range aerial assaults on the company’s fulfillment hubs have inflicted more than 100 billion rubles ($1.2 billion) in total commercial and inventory losses.
