Escalating cross-border strikes between Russian and Ukrainian forces have left at least ten people dead, on both sides, after overnight bombardments hit civilian infrastructure across Ukraine and targeted Russian-occupied territory in the east.
Ukrainian officials reported that six people were killed across the country in a barrage of seven ballistic missiles and 136 drones launched by Russia targeting Kyiv, Chernihiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Kharkiv.
In northern Chernihiv, a Russian drone struck a crowded supermarket, killing two people, including a young girl, and injuring 25 others.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the bombing as a “deeply cynical” attack on ordinary civilians.
Meanwhile, Russian officials claimed four people were killed in a separate Ukrainian drone strike on the Russian-occupied city of Horlivka in Donetsk Oblast.
