US President Donald Trump suggested basketball star LeBron James might be a racist during a White House press conference on Friday after a reporter asked him to weigh in on the Jordan versus James greatest-of-all-time debate, hours after James signed a two-year contract with the Philadelphia 76ers.
“Michael Jordan is a guy that’s a friend of mine, play golf with him, he’s a really good guy,” Trump said. “I think maybe LeBron is a racist. But maybe he doesn’t like Trump. I don’t know. I only like people that like me, so I would say Michael Jordan all the way.” 
Trump and James have feuded publicly since 2018 when Trump criticised James’s intelligence on social media. James, 41, previously campaigned for Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Joe Biden in 2020.
Katy Perry has become the latest celebrity to clash with Donald Trump’s administration after the White House used her song Firework in a TikTok video featuring footage of military strikes. Perry responded publicly demanding the administration remove her music immediately, saying she did not authorise or endorse its use for military content.
