Germany opened their Group F campaign at the FIFA World Cup with a convincing victory, defeating tournament debutants Curacao 7-1 at the Energy Stadium in Houston.

The Germans confirmed their status as favorites from the very beginning. Nmecha opened the scoring in the sixth minute, but Curacao refused to back down. In the 21st minute, Komenencia beat the German goalkeeper with an excellent strike from the edge of the penalty area to level the score, sparking wild celebrations among the island nation’s supporters.

However, the quality of the four-time world champions soon came to the fore. Schlotterbeck restored Germany’s lead in the 38th minute, while Havertz converted a penalty deep into first-half stoppage time to give his side a 3-1 advantage.

Germany completely dominated the second half. Musiala made it 4-1 just two minutes after the restart, while Brown extended the lead further in the 68th minute.

The Germans added two more goals before the final whistle. Undav found the net in the 78th minute to make it 6-1, and Havertz scored his second goal of the match ten minutes later to seal a comprehensive 7-1 victory.

With this win, Germany successfully launched their Group F campaign, while Curacao, despite making a historic World Cup debut, will look to leave a stronger impression in the remainder of the tournament.

In the other Group F match of the opening round, Ecuador and Ivory Coast are set to face each other tonight, with kickoff scheduled for 1:00 a.m.
