Instagram has made it easier for users to create their desired profile look and aesthetic by finally introducing the option to rearrange the profile grid. The update comes nearly a year after Instagram head Adam Mosseri first announced the feature.
According to USA Today, users around the world can now move their posts freely within their profile, regardless of when they were originally published.
“We know this should have been done a long time ago, but we wanted to take the time to build the feature properly,” Meta said in a statement.
The ability to reorganize posts on the profile grid has long been one of the most requested features on the platform. Meta had reportedly been working on it even before Mosseri publicly confirmed its development last year. App researcher Alessandro Paluzzi, known for discovering unreleased features through reverse engineering, first spotted the “Edit Grid” option back in 2022.
If users want to stop seeing their posts strictly in chronological order and customize their profile layout, they can do so by going to their profile, long-pressing any post, and selecting the new option. Alongside “Pin to Main Grid” and “Archive,” users will now see “Reorder Grid.”
By selecting this option, a new interface opens where posts can be dragged and rearranged to create a personalized profile layout.
Pinned posts will remain at the top of the profile and will appear dimmed within the grid editing mode.
