German energy giant Uniper has taken a key step towards ensuring the country’s long-term energy stability. The company has signed a preliminary agreement to purchase liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Canada, another clear signal of the strengthening of the strategic energy partnership between Berlin and Ottawa.
According to a joint statement released on Monday, the deliveries will be made via Canada’s Ksi Lisims LNG project. It is an ambitious export facility located on the Pacific coast of British Columbia, which is set to play an important role in global energy supplies.
