UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan arrived in Kuwait on Thursday for an emergency meeting with Emir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, as Iran continued striking US military bases across the Gulf for a third consecutive day following the collapse of ceasefire talks over Tehran’s nuclear programme and the Strait of Hormuz.

The UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs had earlier condemned Iran’s missile and drone strikes on Kuwait and Bahrain, affirming the UAE’s full support for both GCC member states and all measures aimed at safeguarding their security and stability.

Iran has targeted the UAE multiple times since the US and Israel launched their war against Tehran in February. Thursday’s visit signals deepening Gulf coordination as the military exchange threatens to spiral beyond the ceasefire framework signed on June 17.

The visit came on the same day Iran buried Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, killed in a US-Israeli airstrike on February 28, in his birthplace of Mashhad, drawing millions of mourners in state funeral ceremonies stretching across five cities.

US-Iran ceasefire talks remain deadlocked over Tehran’s nuclear programme and Hormuz navigation rights, with no resumption date confirmed.
