NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said today that accelerating production and innovation in the defense industry is essential for strengthening deterrence and ensuring the collective security of the Alliance.

At the Transatlantic Forum on Defense Industry Access, held at NATO headquarters in Brussels, Rutte called on defense companies to increase production capacity and deliver military equipment more quickly to member states.

He stressed that increased defense spending alone will not be sufficient unless it is accompanied by a significant expansion of industrial capacity.

“Money is important, but the summit to be held next month in Ankara will not deal only with finances. It must focus on combat capabilities and the significant expansion of our defense industry,” Rutte said.

He added that investments in the defense sector will not only strengthen NATO’s security but will also contribute to economic growth and job creation across member countries.
