Oklahoma City’s title core is not staying completely untouched, but the Thunder have reportedly moved to keep one of their biggest frontcourt pieces.
Center Isaiah Hartenstein has reportedly agreed to a new three-year contract extension with the Thunder, a deal said to be worth $75 million and set to keep him with the franchise through the 2028-29 season.
The agreement, if completed as reported, gives Oklahoma City stability in the middle after a busy start to the offseason. Hartenstein, 28, originally joined the Thunder on a three-year, $87 million deal before the 2024-25 campaign.
The Thunder held a $28.5 million team option for the 2026-27 season, but the reported new deal replaces that short-term decision with a longer runway. Reports said the contract also includes a trade kicker and a mutual option that could allow both sides to revisit the arrangement later.
Hartenstein averaged 11.2 points per game during Oklahoma City’s championship season. This year, he averaged 9.2 points while shooting 62.2% from the field.
The pressure is now on the Thunder to balance continuity with roster movement. Oklahoma City has already moved two bench contributors this offseason, reportedly sending Aaron Wiggins to Atlanta and Isaiah Joe to Detroit.
That makes Hartenstein’s reported return a clear piece of business for a team trying to stay near the top while reshuffling around its stars. The sports world is watching what happens next, but Oklahoma City’s plan at center looks a lot less open-ended than it did a day ago.
