Four people were killed and 10 others suffered injuries after Russian overnight attacks struck residential areas across Ukraine early Friday. The deadly aerial assaults, which occurred on July 3, 2026, utilized a combination of strike drones and cruise missiles to target the bordering Sumy region and the central city of Kryvyi Rih during the ongoing conflict.

In the northeastern Sumy region, a Russian drone directly hit a residential home, killing two women, an elderly man, and an infant girl under the age of two. Three additional residents sustained injuries in the strike, according to Oleh Hryhorov, the head of the regional military administration. Meanwhile, a separate missile strike targeted a densely populated urban area in Kryvyi Rih, the hometown of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, wounding seven citizens and damaging local infrastructure.

These recent Russian overnight attacks follow a massive bombardment of the capital city, Kyiv, on Thursday, which marked the deadliest single aerial assault on the capital this year. At least three dozen individuals were killed in that previous raid, prompting city officials to declare Friday a formal day of mourning as rescue teams continue clearing debris.
