Russian forces unleashed an extensive overnight barrage of ballistic missiles and attack drones across Ukraine, killing dozens of civilians and striking multiple residential and industrial districts in Kyiv. Local authorities reported severe damage to residential high-rise buildings, office complexes, and municipal energy infrastructure, with emergency crews searching through rubble to rescue trapped residents.

Ukrainian military officials confirmed that a significant portion of Russia’s ballistic missiles successfully bypassed defenses and struck their targets, underscoring an acute and growing shortage of U.S.-made Patriot air defense interceptors across the country.

The escalated bombardment comes as Moscow deliberately shifts toward heavy ballistic missile usage, exploiting widening vulnerabilities in Ukraine’s air defense umbrella while global supplies of anti-ballistic interceptors remain heavily strained by concurrent international conflicts.

Russian defense officials claimed the strikes targeted military production sites and drone facilities, framing the offensive as direct retaliation for Ukraine’s relentless long-range drone campaign against Russian oil refineries and maritime fuel export terminals.

In response, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy renewed urgent appeals to Western allies for immediate anti-ballistic supply deliveries, warning that Ukrainian cities face unprecedented risk without reinforced air defense coverage.
