Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiyy spoke with U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner on Wednesday about efforts to revive diplomacy aimed at ending Russia’s war in Ukraine.
Zelenskiyy and the White House both confirmed the phone call, which comes as U.S.-brokered diplomatic efforts over Ukraine have slowed while Washington has focused heavily on the conflict with Iran.
Writing on X, Zelenskiyy said he had held “a good, important conversation” with Witkoff and Kushner on how to “reinvigorate diplomacy and bring peace closer.”
“Peace is needed — peace with dignity, and Ukraine has long been ready for it,” Zelenskiyy said.
The Ukrainian leader said both sides would remain in close contact as discussions continue.
The call signals a renewed attempt to restart political engagement around a possible settlement, though no details of any proposed agreement were announced.
