Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua declared himself fully focused and ready to “conquer Earth” as he prepares for his comeback fight against Albanian opponent Kristian Prenga in Saudi Arabia on Saturday.
The 36-year-old British boxer appeared remarkably relaxed at Thursday’s pre-fight press conference in Jeddah, marking his return to the ring for his first bout since a tragic car crash in Nigeria last December that claimed the lives of two of his close friends and key team members.
A victory over Prenga would position Joshua for a long-anticipated all-British heavyweight showdown with Tyson Fury later this year, provided Fury wins his own warm-up bout against Mariusz Wach in Thailand. Despite widespread media speculation surrounding a potential mega-fight with Fury, Joshua brushed aside questions about his long-term future, insisting his immediate attention remains entirely on Saturday’s fight against the heavy-hitting Albanian.
