The UFC’s latest event in Macau is carrying more significance than a normal Fight Night.
The promotion is heavily focused on expanding its presence across Asia, and much of the attention is centered on Song Yadong, who headlines the card against former champion Deiveson Figueiredo.
A victory would place Song firmly back into title contention while also strengthening the UFC’s efforts to build major stars in one of the world’s most important sports markets.
The organization has long searched for globally marketable athletes from Asia.
This weekend may offer another major opportunity.
