Global Trade Faces New Pressure From Tariffs and Geopolitical Rivalries

International trade is facing renewed uncertainty as governments increasingly use tariffs, industrial policy and economic restrictions as geopolitical tools.

The continuing trade tensions between the United States and China remain at the center of global concerns, with businesses adapting to a more fragmented and politically sensitive trading environment.

The IMF has also warned that rising trade barriers and supply chain fragmentation could reduce long-term economic growth if current trends continue.

For multinational companies, the era of purely efficiency-driven globalization is increasingly being replaced by a focus on resilience, security and strategic supply chains.
