The Miami Heat opened Summer League with a one-point escape, beating the San Antonio Spurs 88-87 after a final Spurs shot missed with two seconds left at Chase Center in San Francisco.
Ryan Conwell and Jahmir Young carried Miami with 21 points each, giving the Heat just enough offense to survive a comeback that nearly flipped the first game of the 2026 California Classic.
Miami started fast, winning the first quarter 25-16 and taking a seven-point lead into halftime. The Spurs did not go away. San Antonio trimmed the margin across the second half and made it a one-point game inside the final 35 seconds.
The pressure is now on every possession in these short Summer League windows, and R.J. Davis had the chance to steal it. His pull-up 3-pointer with two seconds left missed, and Miami walked off with the opener.
Vladislav Goldin gave the Heat a two-way lift with 14 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two blocks. Trevor Keels added 18 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals off the bench.
San Antonio spread the scoring across its lineup. Miles Kelly led the Spurs with 16 points, while Davis finished with 15 points and three assists. Maliq Brown, Ja’Kobi Gillespie and Tarris Reed Jr. each added 10 points.
The result changes the picture quickly for both teams. Miami gets the Lakers next on Sunday, while San Antonio turns toward a matchup with the Warriors Gold split squad roster.
