House Republicans pushed through a $95 billion budget package for the Iran war and other White House priorities on Wednesday, approving the plan by just two votes as Congress remains split over how to pay for the conflict.

The measure passed 216-214, with two Republicans and one independent joining Democrats in opposition. The package now heads toward a Senate where its path is not clear.

Speaker Mike Johnson moved ahead with the Republican-only plan despite objections from conservatives who warned it did not include spending cuts to offset the new money.

Rep. Jodey Arrington of Texas, the Republican chairman of the Budget Committee, described the war funding bluntly. “Just bullets and bombs to finish the job,” he said.

Democrats argued the money should instead be directed toward domestic costs. Rep. Pete Aguilar of California, chairman of the House Democratic caucus, said Republicans planned to spend tens of billions on what he called “Trump’s failed war in Iran.”

The package includes $60 billion for the Pentagon, $13 billion for other national security needs, $12 billion for farmers affected by Trump’s tariffs and $10 billion for voting law changes tied to proof-of-citizenship requirements.

The vote comes as lawmakers have not authorized the use of American military force against Iran but are being asked to approve new funding for the operation.

The budget fight is also unfolding as the administration faces pressure over the war’s human and financial costs. President Donald Trump attended the dignified transfer of four service members killed in the Middle East, bringing the U.S. military death toll to 18.

The House action keeps the funding plan alive, but the Senate has not accepted Johnson’s strategy.
