Ukrainian military forces executed a long-range aerial assault targeting Russia’s energy infrastructure deep inside Siberia on Monday. The Omsk oil refinery strike utilized upgraded long-range drones to hit the country’s largest petroleum facility, located approximately 2,700 kilometers from Ukrainian-held territory. The strategic cross-border operation occurred on the eve of a crucial NATO summit, aiming to weaken the resources powering the Russian military campaign.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the operation as an important achievement, confirming that precision weapons can now reach industrial targets in the Siberian region. The domestic defense technology firm Fire Point revealed that its newly modified FP-1 drones carried out the mission, establishing a worldwide distance record for strike drones. Although the Omsk oil refinery strike ignited hot spots across the Gazprom Neft-operated facility, local regional governor Vitaly Khotsenko stated that air defenses intercepted most incoming aircraft, resulting in zero reported casualties.

The expansive Ukrainian drone wave also targeted oil export infrastructure at the Baltic Sea ports of Ust-Luga and Vysotsk, alongside logistics sites in Yaroslavl. Concurrently, Russian forces retaliated with an intense missile bombardment against residential areas in Kyiv, killing at least 28 civilians.
