The United States military has launched a massive new wave of additional bombardments against Iranian targets, effectively shattering the fragile 60-day ceasefire established under last month’s memorandum of understanding.

The escalated operations, executed by U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), heavily pounded multiple strategic military installations across southern Iran, near the critical Haqani Port.

“U.S. forces struck approximately 90 Iranian military targets including air defense systems, coastal surveillance assets, missile and drone storage sites, naval capabilities, and military logistics infrastructure along Iran’s coastline,” CENTCOM said in a statement.

According to American defense officials, the overnight actions marked a severe expansion of US strikes on Iran, ordered in direct retribution for an Iranian drone and missile assault that severely damaged several commercial cargo ships, including Saudi and Qatari liquefied natural gas tankers transiting the vital Strait of Hormuz.

The rapid military escalation unfolded as U.S. President Donald Trump, attending the NATO summit in Ankara, formally declared the truce “over” and dismissed further diplomatic engagement with Tehran as a total waste of time. In response to the heavy American air raids, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) fired a barrage of retaliatory projectiles toward U.S. military assets stationed in Bahrain and Kuwait while successfully downing an American surveillance drone over the Gulf.

As both nations fiercely trade blame for violating the peace framework, the abrupt collapse of the agreement has sent energy markets into absolute chaos, forcing global oil prices to surge dramatically as the threat of a full-scale regional conflict looming over the critical maritime corridor intensifies.
