Jannik Sinner reached the Wimbledon final with a commanding 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 victory over seven-time champion Novak Djokovic on Friday.

The top-ranked Italian controlled the semifinal from the start, pushing Djokovic back with powerful groundstrokes and holding firm on serve in the biggest moments. When he faced his only break point early in the third set, Sinner answered with an ace.

The result sent Sinner into Sunday’s final against second seed Alexander Zverev, who ended British wild card Arthur Fery’s run with a 7-6 (0), 6-2, 6-4 win earlier on Centre Court.

For Djokovic, the defeat ended another attempt to add to his record 24 Grand Slam singles titles. The 39-year-old had come into the semifinal after surviving the longest quarterfinal in Wimbledon history, a five-hour, 15-minute win over Felix Auger-Aliassime.

Sinner is aiming to defend his Wimbledon title, while Zverev is chasing a second straight major after winning his first Grand Slam trophy at Roland Garros last month.

Zverev said Wimbledon had long been the Grand Slam where he struggled most, but added that his focus was now fully on Sunday’s final.
