The ultimatum follows a fourth consecutive day of U.S. airstrikes against Iran, alongside a newly declared naval blockade on all Iranian ports by U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) to secure commercial shipping lanes in the Strait of Hormuz.
The military escalation marks the effective collapse of a fragile ceasefire agreed upon in mid-June, which ruptured following recent Iranian attacks on merchant vessels. While international humanitarian law strictly prohibits deliberate attacks on civilian infrastructure, Trump asserted that the U.S. military campaign will persist until he decides to halt operations. White House representatives reportedly contacted Iranian officials shortly before the broadcast to deliver the final warning.
