Slovenian cycling phenom Tadej Pogačar secured his fifth Tour de France general classification victory on Sunday, joining all-time legends Jacques Anquetil, Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault, and Miguel Induráin in the sport’s most exclusive five-win club.
The 27-year-old UAE Team Emirates rider completed the final stage into Paris with a dominant general classification lead of nearly six and a half minutes. Pogačar spent much of the race’s final mountain stages assisting his teammate Isaac Del Toro, who claimed third overall and won the white jersey for best young rider. Belgian star Remco Evenepoel finished as runner-up in the overall standings.
Meanwhile, 19-year-old French prodigy Paul Seixas delivered a stunning Grand Tour debut, finishing fourth overall for Decathlon CMA CGM. The thrilling final stage around Paris saw Dutch powerhouse Mathieu van der Poel edge out a frantic bunch sprint on the Champs-Élysées to claim his second stage win of the race.
