The AI boom is increasingly shifting from chatbots and apps to the infrastructure that powers them.
Investment firms, cloud providers and technology companies are spending hundreds of billions of dollars on data centers, computing clusters and AI-specific infrastructure. This week, I Squared Capital announced the acquisition of multiple U.S. data centers as part of a broader strategy focused on AI inference, while several major infrastructure funds continue expanding their AI exposure.
Industry analysts increasingly believe that the biggest winners of the AI era may not be the applications themselves, but the companies supplying computing power, networking and energy.
