Qatar’s Ministry of Interior confirmed on Friday morning that a child was wounded in an Iranian missile attack. Official sources said Qatari air defences intercepted Iranian missiles overnight, as the United States completed its sixth consecutive night of precision strikes on Iran and Iranian forces launched simultaneous attacks across five Gulf states and Jordan.
Qatar’s defence ministry confirmed its armed forces thwarted an Iranian missile attack in the early hours of Friday, while the Interior ministry said a child was injured by shrapnel and was receiving medical treatment. Several explosion-like sounds were heard across Doha as a government security alert was sent to residents’ mobile phones.
US Central Command said its forces, including fighter jets, aerial drones and warships, launched precision munitions overnight hitting dozens of Iranian military targets including coastal surveillance and air defence sites, military logistics infrastructure and maritime capabilities, completing what CENTCOM described as its sixth major wave of strikes since the conflict resumed.
Iran simultaneously launched missiles and drones at Kuwait, Bahrain, the UAE and Jordan. Since the war began on February 28, Qatar alone has recorded 16 civilian injuries from Iranian strikes, with the country having intercepted attacks on multiple occasions including strikes near Hamad International Airport in March.
Qatar’s foreign ministry summoned Iran’s representative and condemned the attack as a flagrant violation of sovereignty. Doha called for an immediate return to negotiations while reaffirming its role as mediator between Washington and Tehran.
