Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding is still generating headlines, and this time the conversation has moved from guest lists to city costs.

New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani said at a July 10 press conference that Swift had already paid the city more than $160,000 connected to permits for the Madison Square Garden event.

“Taylor Swift will be paying … has paid already the cost of the permit that was lodged, which was over $160,000 for that event and for the response to that event,” Mamdani said.

He added that the permit “was finalized, I think, in just the days before the event itself.”

The payment was tied to city services around the wedding, including police overtime, street closures and other public resources that sat outside New York’s normal operating costs.

That figure does not cover the private spectacle inside the venue. The wedding has been followed closely online, with details about celebrity guests, reception moments and luxury touches continuing to surface after the ceremony.

The public bill became its own mini-drama because Swift and Kelce’s wedding took place in one of the most visible venues in the country, with fans, security and media attention turning a private celebration into a city logistics event.

Reports around the wedding also said Swift and Kelce donated $26 million to charities in New York, Missouri and Tennessee.

For now, the city’s official number is clearer than many of the wedding details fans are still trying to piece together: over $160,000, already paid.
