Margaret Qualley and Jack Antonoff’s split has already turned into an online guessing game, and now her camp is trying to shut down the messiest part of it.
A representative for Qualley responded after reports said the actor and the music producer had separated after almost three years of marriage. The breakup talk came with speculation in snark communities and entertainment coverage that Antonoff had cheated, a claim Qualley’s representative denied in direct terms.
“The narratives running in the press about Margaret and Jack are categorically untrue,” the representative said. “There are no trust issues. There was no infidelity or anything outside of respect and partnership in this relationship.”
Reports earlier this week said the separation was “more of her decision than his,” citing an unnamed source who claimed things had not been good between the pair for some time. Those claims have not been publicly confirmed by either Qualley or Antonoff.
But the statement from Qualley’s side made clear that the cheating rumor is not something they are letting sit unanswered. It also pushed back on the idea that outside voices have real insight into the marriage.
“They have deep love and care for one another,” the representative said. “There are only two people in this marriage, and the sources who are talking to the press and commenting on their relationship are not people who know them. Please respect their privacy.”
For now, the public version of the split is a familiar celebrity spiral: a quiet separation, anonymous claims, online speculation and one carefully worded denial trying to draw a line around what is private.
