Britney Spears’ son Jayden James Federline has stepped into one of the internet’s strangest pop conspiracy rabbit holes: the claim that his mother is secretly a clone.
Jayden addressed the rumor during an Instagram Live, after apparently seeing a TikTok video questioning whether Spears was still alive. The theory has circulated among some social media users despite Spears continuing to post publicly on Instagram.
“Bro, you can go to her page and see her right now,” Jayden said, pushing back on the idea directly.
The moment landed because Spears has spent much of her public life at the center of intense fan speculation, tabloid attention and online theorizing. But this latest rumor appears to have crossed a line for her son, who criticized the way viral posts can turn baseless claims into entertainment.
Jayden, one of Spears’ two sons with ex-husband Kevin Federline, said people are too quick to believe posts simply because they are popular. “People know how gullible people are and they use that to their advantage,” he said.
He added that some viewers see a post with lots of likes and accept it without checking whether it is true.
The comments come as celebrities and their families continue to deal with a fan culture where jokes, concern and conspiracy can blur quickly. For Spears, whose Instagram posts are often dissected frame by frame, her son’s message was blunt: the woman people are theorizing about is still posting in public view.
“They don’t even research it,” Jayden said.
