The U.S. military said it completed another round of strikes on Iran late Monday, marking the 10th consecutive night of American attacks as Washington pushes to protect shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
U.S. Central Command said American forces hit Iranian military command centres, maritime capabilities, missile and drone launch sites, and air defence systems.
CENTCOM said the strikes were intended to weaken Iran’s ability to attack commercial vessels moving through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important maritime energy routes.
The command said commercial vessel traffic through the strait was continuing. Since early May, CENTCOM forces have helped facilitate the transit of about 900 commercial vessels and 450 million barrels of crude oil, according to the U.S. military.
“American forces remain postured and prepared to hold Iran accountable,” CENTCOM said, accusing Tehran of aggression against civilian mariners.
The latest strikes come after days of escalating U.S.-Iran attacks and growing concern over shipping, energy flows and the risk of a wider regional conflict.
